SPOTLIGHT SALUTE #2

Happy June! Summer is here!

And oh how I love Social Networking and the internet, because it allows you to be connected to people and information that you would never come across otherwise. Almost a year ago 7/25/12, I posted a Spotlight Salute about a Model by the name of  Dorothea Towles Church.

I was pleased to have come across her (good ole' internet) because I had never heard of this African American "Super" model from the 1950's who shared the same birthday as me! However I posted the below picture of her and to my surprise, this was not who I thought it was, and I was informed on my #Pinterest page (good ole social networking) of who it REALLY was! (Original Post now has the right pictures of the right person Dorothea Towles Church)

SSSSSOOOOOOooo today I want to salute the right person and her name is DONYALE LUNA!!! Check out them Stiletto Nails!

Born in 1945, Luna became the 1st African American Model to appear in British Vogue in 1966 at the age of 21, and grace the cover of Harpers Bazaar. Seeing as she is known for her 1st's she was also known for her eccentric behavior and identity crises issues, which contributed to her reputation of being one of the 1st DIVAS in the modeling world at that time too.  GORGEOUS none the less, I salute her because I cant imagine in the 60's how hard it must of been to just be noticed as a beautiful woman, let alone be hailed as a model!
